Q&A with Recruiter DJ Lorence
Q: What would you say is the most rewarding thing about being a HealthCare Support recruiter?
A: The most rewarding part is being able to place someone in a role that truly makes a difference in their life. Many of the candidates I work with have been searching for months, often feeling discouraged, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to help them land a position they’re excited about. Seeing their gratitude and hearing how happy they are once they start is what makes this work so meaningful.
Q: What type(s) of service or support do you offer to candidates/new hires that most people wouldn’t think a recruiter would provide?
A: We really take a full-cycle approach to recruiting. Beyond simply connecting candidates with job opportunities, we assist with resume formatting, interview scheduling, coaching, and feedback to help them put their best foot forward. Even after placement, we provide on-the-job tips, guidance, and ongoing support to ensure they feel confident and prepared every step of the way.
Q: What’s an inspiring, compassionate, or funny story you’ve heard from one of your candidates providing care in the field?
A: I’ve had several candidates reach out to share that they were recognized at work for going above and beyond in caring for their patients. Hearing those stories is so gratifying because it’s a reminder that we’re not just filling roles—we’re helping people find meaningful work where they can make a real impact. Knowing I played a part in placing someone who’s now improving lives is an incredible feeling.
Q: What are some tips you have for job candidates to give them the best chance of being selected for a role they are interested in?
A: Communication is key. Be prompt and responsive to emails, calls, or texts, and don’t hesitate to ask thoughtful questions to make sure you fully understand the role and expectations. Building a strong relationship with your recruiter is also essential; the more we collaborate, the better I can advocate for you and help you stand out to potential employers.
Q: Do you have any great advice you give to candidates to prepare them for their new travel assignment/permanent position?
A: Flexibility and reliability go a long way. Being open to change, maintaining excellent attendance, and showing that you’re dependable not only helps you succeed in your current role but can also open doors to future opportunities. Employers notice when someone is committed, and it often leads to long-term success.
Q: As an expert in your role as a recruiter, how does the HealthCare Support experience stand out in a crowd?
A: We pride ourselves on being thorough, transparent, and genuinely supportive. We guide candidates through each step of the process, making sure all their questions are answered and that they feel informed and confident. Many candidates tell me they appreciate how much we communicate and follow up—whether it’s job updates, onboarding support, or checking in once they’ve started their role. Knowing they have someone they can turn to for guidance, even after placement, really sets us apart.
