Q&A with Recruiter Andy Guardado
Q: What would you say is the most rewarding thing about being a HealthCare Support recruiter?
A: I enjoy watching the right match come together. When a nurse or therapist steps into a role that fits their lifestyle and passion, and a facility gains a compassionate caregiver, that’s magic.
Q: What type(s) of service or support do you offer to candidates/new hires that most people wouldn’t think a recruiter would provide?
A: Think of me as your personal hype squad and problem-solver rolled into one. I don’t just connect you to contracts, I prep you for interviews, help fine-tune resumes, and give real-time insight on what hiring managers want. I also check in throughout your assignment to make sure you’re feeling supported. I love to take care of my clinicians!
Q: What’s an inspiring, compassionate, or funny story you’ve heard from one of your candidates providing care in the field?
A: I will always recall the positive reviews I heard about a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) I hired for home health. His strong work ethic, reliability, patience, and compassionate nature have yielded great results with his patients and management. Hiring companies repeatedly ask for his availability, and they tell us about how his patients personally request him as a private caregiver. Our clients have thanked us for finding him. On his last contract with us, one manager said, “So this is the famous PTA I’ve heard so much about.”
Q: What are some tips you have for job candidates to give them the best chance of being selected for a role they are interested in?
A: Be prompt, be prepared, and be passionate. Respond as quickly as possible to new opportunities when back in the job market (they go fast!), keep your credentials up to date, and don’t underestimate the power of showing personality during interviews. Confidence and kindness tend to go a long way!
Q: Do you have any great advice you give to candidates to prepare them for their new travel assignment/permanent position?
A: I try to be as thorough as possible during my initial talk with a new traveler, detailing all the aspects. I tend to suggest that candidates go in their assignment with some curiosity. Every facility does things a little differently, so embrace that learning curve. Oh, and pack your sense of humor! It’ll help when GPS is acting funky on your first home health visit. (It happens.)
Q: As an expert in your role as a recruiter, how does the HealthCare Support experience stand out in a crowd?
A: We don’t do one-size-fits-all. We personalize every conversation, every placement, and every follow-up to match your goals. Whether you’re a first-time traveler or a seasoned pro, you’ll feel seen, heard, and hyped the whole way. You bring the heart, we bring the hustle!
