RN Case Manager Concurrent Review

Position Summary:
RN Case Manager Position Purpose: Review inpatient admissions to assure appropriate level of care and medical necessity.
Nurse Case Management Position Responsibilities:
- Review admissions through on-site and telephonic review to ensure medical necessity and appropriate level of care.
- Concurrent review assessments and audit patient charts through on-site hospital visits.
- Act as clinical resources to referral staff and make appropriate referrals.
- Provide patient and provider education.
- Data enters assessments, authorizations and reviews into the system.
Licenses/Certifications: RN, Current state nursing license.
Experience to Look For
Best: managed care concurrent review (inpatient/hospital setting)
2nd Best: solid inpatient/hospital clinical experience, especially with discharge planning exp.
About the Job
- Will start out strictly telephonic and eventually could transition to doing site visits and working partially from home. No set timeline on that yet.
- This is a big office where they will sit in big cubicles with nice new set-ups and dual monitors, etc.
- Reviewing hospital inpatient charts to determine length of stay, discharge edibility, etc.
Hours for this Position: 8am – 5pm

Required Skills
What We Look For:
Must haves:
- RN
- Knowledge of concurrent review/medical necessity review criteria
- Computer skills. Be especially careful when screening someone who has worked strictly in hospitals; they sometimes struggle w/ tech skills.
- Self-discipline and ability to prioritize and meet daily deadlines
- Attention to detail
Preferred:
- Experience working with the Medicaid population
· NICU/Pediatrics experience – there will be areas where people with NICU/Pediatrics experience could specialize if they have that experience, so that could be a plus, but not required.

Based on Experience
