Oncology Registered Nurse / RN

HealthCare Support is actively seeking a Oncology Registered Nurse / RN to fill an opening with a HealthCare Support in Gainesville, Florida.

Daily Responsibilities for Oncology Registered Nurse / RN:

• This Nurse will be doing assessments, giving shots, accessing ports, etc.
• Assists providers and staff with the daily coordination of patient care to facilitate efficient patient flow and provider access
• Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff, and providers to ensure delivery of a patient centered model of care
• Serves as primary support person for the providers
• Ability to support coverage of Clinical Manager, if needed.
• Must have strong critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• From the Area Manager directly:
  • Come in, be given patient assignment by nurse manager, ideally 8 patients, max is 10 
  • Will not give chemo (unless they are well versed in that area, will give immunotherapy, hydration, giving shots, accessing ports, etc
  • Need to know or be taught about chemo and its side affects 
  • Might also see patients for nurse evaluation due to symptoms secondary to treatment 
  • New nurses get patients once an hour usually (our temps can expect this) 
  • Agency load is a little lighter because there are certain types of patients they will not be trained on up front 
  • Paired with a trainer, have 30, 60, 90 day check points 

Schedule: Monday through Friday, from 8 to 5pm (hours may shift with patient needs but will be very close to these). Either way, will be a 40-hour work week

Required Qualifications for Oncology Registered Nurse / RN:

• Active and clear RN license
• Active CPR and BLS
• Experience with accessing ports, infusion management, drip titration/management (especially if candidate does not have oncology exp), IV Therapy and monitoring for appropriate adverse events
  • They will not be mixing but they will be administering
• Critical care or ER experience required
• Active Driver License in case they need to float but not likely

Preferred Qualifications for Oncology Registered Nurse / RN:

Pay Details: $37/hour – $40/hour
